Gettle is currently seeking an experienced Data Communication Technician to provide field service to our customers in the areas of installation, maintenance, and repair. This position requires frequent travel, which could include overnight travel. 

Data Communication Technician | Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Perform the planning and installation of SCS (Structured Cabling System).
  • Ability to complete copper and fiber optic cabling systems, including terminations, splicing, maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Must be able to understand and translate site drawings, site work layout, data rack layouts, grounding, and bonding systems and components.
  • Possess the ability to operate various tools and equipment related to the industry (hand and power tools, certification meter, power & light source meter, etc.).
  • Provide supervision to apprentices and other team members as needed.
  • Compliance with all DOT regulations and requirements for DOT/CDL drivers.
  • Must be able to work in atmospheric conditions such as extreme cold, heat, humidity, and other various weather conditions.
  • Must be able to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Data Communication Technician | Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Five or more years' experience as a low voltage technician.
  • Completion of BICSI Installer I and II certifications, highly preferred.
  • Copper and Fiber training, preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and/or valid DOT or CDL, preferred.
  • Must be able to navigate construction sites consisting of uneven terrain, climbing stairs and ladders, and working at heights.
  • Must be able to lift objects up to 80 pounds.
  • Must be able to push and pull up to 100 pounds.
  • The ability to regularly talk and hear.
  • Employee may be exposed to moderate noise levels.
  • Able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, climb, and balance.
  • The ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perceptions, and the ability to focus.
  • Ability to work overtime and on-call.
